Maruti Suzuki launches Celerio CNG at Rs. 6.58 lakhs ex-showroom

Maruti Suzuki has launched the CNG variant of the Celerio. They are calling it Celerio S-CNG. It is based on the VXi variant and is priced at Rs. 6.58 lakhs ex-showroom. The CNG version of the VXi variant is costs Rs. 95,000 more than the regular VXi variant. Maruti Suzuki is claiming a fuel efficiency of 35.60 km/kg while running on CNG and for petrol, it should deliver around 25 kmpl.

The Celerio CNG is powered by the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 65 PS of max power and 89 Nm of peak torque. While running on CNG, the engine produces 56 PS of max power and 82.1 Nm of peak torque. The CNG variant is only offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is also a 5-speed AMT on offer.

Because the S-CNG variant is based on the VXi variant. It comes with central locks, electric adjustment for the rearview mirrors, all power windows, impact sensing auto door unlock full wheel covers, day/night rearview mirrors, rear parcel shelf, speed-sensitive auto door lock and body-coloured door handles and outside rearview mirrors.

The Celerio S-CNG is equipped with a CNG cylinder that has a water capacity of 60 litres. Moreover, it comes with dual interdependent ECUs (Electronic Control Units) and an intelligent injection system. The manufacturer says that they specially tune the CNG equipped vehicles and also test their safety. Moreover, they also retune the suspension setup and brakes.

Maruti Suzuki first launched the new generation Celerio in November last year. Since then, they have received 25,000 bookings of the hatchback. The price of Celerio starts at Rs. 4.99 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 6.94 lakhs ex-showroom. It is offered in four variants. There is LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. The Celerio competes against Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago, Renault Kwid and Datsun Go.
