According to eBay Motors, searches for old Chevrolet Impalas shot up after the halftime show at Super Bowl LVI. This makes pretty good sense since a) an old Impala is a wonderful thing and b) there were three of them on display as part of the massive set of the (pretty great) halftime show. In fact, the 1964 Impala specifically saw a 50% gain in search traffic while Impala lowriders blasted up by 160%.
The Chevy Impala is already priced pretty far out of the “oh, I’ll scoop one of those up as fun project” price segment. And they have been for a while. I know because I’ve been looking at them for years. People want crazy money for even crusty examples. Cleans projects command serious coin, relative to what should be an old-ass Chevy coupe or convertible.
Now? With the instant surge in interest coupled with the already insane used market, my dream of an old Impala on wires and bags moves ever farther from potential reality.
