Maruti recently launched the facelift of Baleno. Now, Toyota will also be updating the Glanza with a facelift. According to media reports, some Toyota dealerships have already started accepting unofficial bookings of the 2022 Glanza. It is expected to get launched in March. Toyota will only make cosmetic changes, there would be no feature additions or mechanical upgrades.
In the pictures, we can see only the rear quarter of the premium hatchback. The 2022 Glanza would come with new alloy wheels that are diamond-cut units and measure 16-inches in size.
The badging on the tailgate was covered. The rear design is the same as the new generation Baleno. However, we are expecting that the front of the Glanza would look slightly different.
It seems like there is a different bumper with chrome surrounds around the fog lamps. Glanza will also get a different grille so that it is easy to differentiate against the 2022 Baleno. The Glanza was spotted in a white paint shade. There might be some exclusive colour options for the Glanza and it might also get a different interior theme. However, none of this is not yet confirmed.
As of now, we do not know whether Toyota will offer the Glanza in four variants or three variants. Till now, Toyota has not offered the base variant of the rebadged vehicles that they sell in the Indian market.
No changes to the engine
Mechanically, the Glanza will stay the same. So, it would come with a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 90 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. We are expecting that the claimed fuel efficiency figures will stay the same. So, the manual gearbox will be rated at 22.35 kmpl whereas the AMT gearbox will be rated at 22.94 kmpl.
The feature list will stay the same as the Baleno. So, the highlight will be the heads-up display and the 360-degree parking camera. There would also be an automatic climate control, cruise control, flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel, coloured multi-information display, UV cut glass, push button to start/stop the engine, keyless entry etc.
2022 Toyota Glanza would go against the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo and the upcoming Citroen C3.
Upcoming Toyota vehicles
Toyota will also be launching the Hilux pick-up truck in March 2022. It will share the platform and engine options with the Fortuner. Then they will be launching the facelifted version of the Urban Cruiser which will be based on the new generation of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
The most important vehicle of 2022 for Toyota will be the new mid-size SUV that has been co-developed with Maruti Suzuki. It has been codenamed D22 and will launch during the festive season this year. It will get a hybrid engine and Maruti Suzuki will also sell their version of the mid-size SUV. However, unlike the rebadged versions, these SUVs are expected to get different bodywork.
